Photoshop is a computer program that can greatly enhance the images in your life. You can manipulate photos or home videos with photoshop to look or sound a certain way. You can do many things with this program; you can change images, backgrounds and graphics- all in the comfort of your own home. With a program like photoshop, who needs professionals anymore? You can become the professional and save yourself time and money by doing the work on your pictures and videos yourself.

Lighting your subject is, obviously, very important for the successful capture of the “perfect” image. The type and intensity of the light can dramatically change the mood of the photograph. Sometimes the effect is not obvious until the picture is developed. Even with the digital camera, although you can see an image immediately, the size of the view screen makes it difficult to notice some of the differences.

Whether you’ve spent hours pouring over them or groaned every time that they’re pulled out, chances are that someone in your family has an addiction to photo albums. Providing a visual reference to relatives and happy times, photo albums have long been a tradition in many homes.

As we have discussed there are many avenues open to a professional photographer. Some actually graduate from the world of business into corporate photography. Corporate photography has many facets; it is used for publicity, in the form of advertisements; for public relations, for historical purposes, and for in-house brochures. Some corporate photographers can work for the same company for many years. They cover special events in the companies’ history, as well as being as in some cases an important aspect of industrial history. The history of the steamboat, the transition from the Agrarian to the Industrial revolution has all been captured on film.

One thing I discovered during my experience with digital photography after 20 years of shooting film, and I teach this point in all the many seminars that I’ve put on to hundreds of other full-time pros, is that digital photography is very well suited for the portrait photographer. So why are we the last to jump on the band wagon? Many commercial shooters have known about and mastered the use of digital in their business’s for far longer than the portrait photographer.
